We are delighted to have been part of today’s official opening of Bidadari Estate. Singapore’s Housing & Development Board and Minister of National Development Mr Desmond Lee presided over the occasion.
The project has recently been recognized with a Gold FIABCI, The International Real Estate Federation World Prix d’Excellence Award, and a 2014 Singapore Institute of Architects Architectural Design Award. Urban Strategies was the lead masterplanner for this 91-ha housing development in collaboration with MKPL Architects Pte Ltd and Arup. Completed in 2013, our plan creates a “Community in a Garden” through a generously landscaped setting, integrating 12,000 residential units, supporting community and commercial uses with a regional park and greenway park connectors. Preserving the site’s rolling wooded landscapes and creating seamless transitions to adjacent neighbourhoods were key drivers of the plan. The project comprises five distinct neighbourhoods, each reinforcing the park identity in different ways. Small gardens and plazas provide socializing spaces for residents. Parking and servicing are seamlessly integrated into perimeter blocks or discreetly tucked under landscaped terrains. Building designs vary in form, expression and height in order to reinforce a varied sense of place.
Project leads Michel Trocme and Yiwen Zhu were in attendance at today’s opening.
