Dominik Matusik
Dominik is an Urban Planner managing a range of complex planning projects for both public and private sector clients, including planning due diligence, development approvals, master-planning, and policy planning. Dominik joined Urban Strategies in October 2023 following a stint working in local government in London. There, he worked for several Borough Councils in development management as well as for Transport for London where he worked to enact the London Plan’s mandate of effecting a modal shift away from cars and towards transit and active transportation. Previously, Dominik worked in consulting and planning journalism in Toronto, which he calls home.
Dominik is passionate about sustainable city-building with an emphasis on achieving safer and more equitable mobility options, particularly walking and cycling. He continues to strive to create a Toronto that is vibrant, dynamic, and attractive. His recent projects at Urban Strategies have included planning for the Yonge Street Secondary Plan Area in Markham in preparation for intensification resulting from the planned subway extension, development approvals for the long-term development and economic vitality of Yorkdale Shopping Centre, and work to support the expansion of Pinewood Studios in Downtown Toronto’s Port Lands district following the City’s flood-proofing works.
