Matt Whittier
Matt is an Urban Planner with a multidisciplinary background in policy analysis, engineering, design, and research. He recently completed his graduate studies at the University of Toronto in the Master of Science in Planning program, focusing his work on active transportation system design and the development of complete communities.
Matt’s prior experiences include working within the non-profit and transit advocacy space as well as within the public sector, helping develop transportation policy for the Ministry of Transportation. Matt’s work at Urban Strategies includes several large-scale development projects within the GTA including a new midrise housing project in Markham to create new affordable housing units in York region. The focus of these projects is to create more walkable, compact communities with an emphasis on improving the public realm and advancing the livability of cities.
