
Neil Loewen
Neil is an Urban Planner with a background in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design. He has professional experience transportation planning, campus planning, and development approvals. Neil has played a key role in project managing complex city building projects and multidisciplinary master planning projects.
Neil has led approvals processes for several complex developments, such as First Gulf’s 200 Front Street East in Toronto, Quadreal’s Cloverdale Mall redevelopment in Etobicoke, Concord Park Place in North York, and multiple residential tower approvals for GWL Realty Advisors, Starlight, and Amacon in Downtown Mississauga.
His university campus planning experience includes Princeton University, York University, Brock University, and Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University. He has been instrumental in the coordination and resolution of large-scale planning processes at Ontario Place and Picton Base31.
Neil’s ability to efficiently coordinate complex projects and dynamic consultant teams has been an asset to his work at Urban Strategies. Neil previously performed research at The Centre for Active Transportation in the production of two publications and a community-based active transportation vision for the neighbourhoods of Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park. His volunteer work in creative urbanism has included public design charrettes and pop-up engagement, mentorship of young urban planners, helping to launch Toronto Metropolitan University’s High School Outreach Program, and his role as Past Chair of Toronto Metropolitan University’s Planning Alumni Association.
