Sarah Young
Sarah is an Urban Designer with an interdisciplinary background which she hopes to leverage to design socially and environmentally sustainable built environments. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master of Architecture from the University of Toronto. Prior to pursuing a career in design, Sarah worked in research and project management at Toronto-based NGOs, developing her interest in community engagement and advocacy.
At Urban Strategies, Sarah contributes urban design expertise to a variety of projects, including campus plans, large-scale master plans, and detailed site-based studies. Sarah is currently project managing a comprehensive master plan for Canadian Nuclear Labs’ Waste Management Campus to guide the development of innovative new facilities at the country’s premier nuclear science and technology organization. She played an integral role in developing the Master Campus Development Plan for Algonquin College, which provided detailed recommendations to enhance academic and student life through short and long term development. Sarah has contributed to large-scale master plans in Georgetown, Oakville, Edmonton, and Mississauga. Sarah advised on transit-oriented placemaking strategies for a new community core next to Georgetown’s new GO station. In both Uptown and Midtown Oakville, Sarah helped articulate structuring moves to guide the growth of urban cores through diagrammatic graphics and demonstration plans. Sarah has also contributed to planning approvals for high-profile urban developments including Union Park at 315-325 Front St. West in Toronto.
